I am glad to announce the public opening of the NextGRID Adaptive API project. "The goal and primary output of the EU funded NextGRID project was to define the architecture that will lead to the emergence of the next generation Grid." Following ... [More] this idea, one of the outputs of NextGRID was a client API for advanced usage of the Grid "Virtual Infrastructure Model", defined within the project. This Adaptive API is now being repackaged and moved to SourceForge, released under LGPL 2+ license. More news will be published soon to announce the publication of the release binaries but, for now, you can take a look at the source code in the subversion repository. In short, this library provides a general-purpose workflow programming and execution framework. It is an ambitious project, with the aim to become a one-for-all framework that can be used for processing workflows in any syntax. The Adaptive API was formally designed with portability to different programming languages as one of its main goals. The current libraries are the Java implementation of that design, and it is our hope to see portings to other languages some day. [Less]
