Project Summary

Mantra

Dictate to advertisers what ads you want to see and help your favourite sites maximize their ad revenue Disruptive ideas User-controlled advertising

Today most people just ignore ads on web pages. It's (nearly) all “interrupt” based advertising which tries to distract you from the content you are reading.

You know that most of your favourite sites are ad supported so Adverter will prompt you once a week to actually view ads from your favourite sites.

Adverter records the ad history - the list of ads which have been displayed and any which you have clicked on - so that this can be interrogated in a number of intuitive ways.

So once a week (for example) you can view a summary of recent ads from your favourite sites and to prioritize (filter) ads which match criteria (tags) you have specified. If they are interesting enough to you then you'll click on them.

this is you controlling ad targeting (instead of other sites recording information about you for targeting)
you can prefer ads from user-friendly ad networks. by doing this:
o
you can encourage your sites to work with any ad network which can give you ads which you can filter using your criteria (tags)
o
by providing better ads, your favourite sites will increase their ad revenue
you could even replace untargeted ads with targeted ads as you view web pages
you could even dictate (by prioritizing these ads) that you want to know how much the site earns from this ad
At the tipping point, sites will ask their readers to install and use Adverter.
