Anode permits nodes on the Internet to easily locate one another using DNS-like names and to establish datagram or streaming connections even if one or both nodes are subject to NAT. Its goal is to provide a protocol with at least one high-quality reference implementation delivering these features while maintaining simplicity, a very small footprint, security, high performance, and cleanliness of design.
The name "Anode" is simply a concatenation of "a node."
