Project Summary

(abandoned: see dk-basic for similar project)

This will be a real project, but for now we're just learning Google code hosting. Inspired by Atari BASIC and missing a truely interactive programming language, Gordon wrote the core of BeBasic a couple of years ago. We're now working to finish it up and make it publically available.

Why something ancient like BASIC? After years of working with embedded microcontroller projects, we realized we really missed truly interactive access to the hardware. Even a quick modify-compile-load-run cycle just breaks the flow of thought. BASIC is simple and straightforward, and we feel remains a viable language for scripting.
