Project Summary

Chicory consists of a JavaScript compiler and a runtime library written in JavaScript. Its main goal is to allow the developer to write "Rich Internet Applications" in JavaScript 1.7 (with possible extensions) against a common api which is being compiled to JavaScript 1.5 both for the browser and server-environment. In this sense it's a "reverse GWT" allowing the JavaScript developer to write code for an "abstract server" as if it is being part of the browser application. Chicory will initially support Rhino for the code running on the server.

Chicory is based on the "Narcissus" parser written by Brendan Eich and both the Simplified JavaScript parser and JSLint which were written by Douglas Crockford.
