Well, I think I managed to get something that works. You will have to install this using the manual tab of the extension manager:

I looked at what seemed to be a promising possiblity but it doesn't seem compatible with the plugin. It's at
http://touchpunch.furf.com/
It may in fact be made to work, but I don't have the time/patience at the moment to investigate. If you have some eager young programmers in your midst, perhaps they can give this a try.

It's a jQuery function and I'll look into it. But my tests show me that it needs a mouse in the iPad, at least in mine.
