I'm pleased to announce that Enano has been featured on IntranetJournal as one of the "most compelling CMS-based solutions that [does] not involve Drupal or WordPress." Enano received praise for its heavily thought-out security and our famous ... [More] AJAX-laden interface, and we promise it's only going to get sexier from here. Thanks to everyone that's evangelized about Enano. Word of mouth really helps projects like ours, so keep spreading the word - it's really starting to pay off! [Less]

Just letting y'all know that the upgrades have gone as planned, the new VPS (christened Ktulu) is up and if you're reading this it means the DNS switchover is successful and that you are browsing the new VPS.

Update: All services have been transferred to Bigmomma. If you can see this all is going well thus far. I've sent in my request to have the VPS formatted and installed with the latest Fedora. Later this evening I will be asking Network Redux to ... [More] reformat our VPS and install the latest version of Fedora on it. This will hopefully provide some minor improvements to performance as well as giving me the ability to do more with the VPS. I'm working on transferring databases and web files over to Bigmomma at the moment; we hope to perform both the transition to Bigmomma and the transition back to Germantown without any downtime but you know me, things never go completely seamless like they should. We hope to be done with maintenance by Saturday afternoon. [Less]

After a little consideration I decided it was time to give Enano a new look. Why? Our old 3D logo (the one you'll see in the Enano installer) wasn't cutting it, and I felt like something simpler was in order. So as of about a week ago, Enano's site ... [More] artwork has been replaced. The transition took place after the 1.0.5 release, and we won't be updating tarballs (it's way too much work). Enano versions 1.0.6 and 1.1.5 will feature the updated artwork. [Less]

The Enano CMS Project is pleased to announce the immediate release of Enano 1.0.5, code-named "Ferrishyn." This is a non-security maintenance release for the stable Banshee 1.0 branch. Release notes are available in the usual place.

I realize that a lot of Enano's plugins are kind of outdated, low quality, only visible in Mercurial, or otherwise in need of attention. There are a lot of reasons for this, but the end result is that very soon these problems will be fixed. ... [More] First of all, my main focus is the Enano Core. I don't have a lot of resources to dedicate to managing and developing plugins. So any volunteer help would be greatly appreciated. Second, some plugins - specifically Surveyor, AjIM, and Feed Me - were written a long time ago. Feed Me is relatively up-to-date, but the other two probably have not been updated in close to a year. The Enano 1.0.x API is considered stable and has been for over a year now, so I hope that these two still work under 1.0.x. Work on 1.1.x is still actively proceeding, though it has been slow over the past month or so due to an increase in business and otherwise extremely busy real life for me. There's been something every weekend, and I recently took a staff position as a head wiki editor on a major website (they don't use Enano, unfortunately). In addition, I've been working on implementing some features in Enano 1.1.x that I haven't been able to commit because they're not in a working state at all. Third, the Enano 1.1.x API is still unstable and in some areas rapidly changing. Of course I attempt backwards compatibility wherever possible without resorting to ugly hacks. But since most plugins hook into multiple locations in the Enano core, they will often break. These facts brought to light, I think it's time that we have a plugin rally week. Over the next week or so I will be devoting a lot of time to Enano's various plugins. My TODO list is comprised mostly of: Get Linkchomper into Mercurial. I don't know how it's not now. Pick either Decir or the PunBB bridge. Stick with one, abandon the other. Audit and rewrite parts of AjIM and Surveyor so that they will run on the 1.1.x API Test the other plugins for compatibility with 1.0.x and 1.1.x. I think that some parts of Snapr and all of the Cortado embedder plugin require 1.1.x - not sure. As always, patches relating to anything are welcomed. [Less]

Three months of development. Three days since I've last showered. And a heck of a lot of blood, sweat, and tears. Yes, it's finally here, folks. On behalf of the entire Enano team it is my pleasure to announce the immediate release of Enano 1.1.4 to ... [More] the public. This is the fourth alpha release in our ongoing development effort towards the 1.2.0 milestone. I'll start with the obligatory instability warning: THIS RELEASE IS HIGHLY UNSTABLE AND IS LIKELY TO CAUSE YOU PROBLEMS. IF YOU INSTALL IT ON A PRODUCTION WEBSITE, DO NOT EXPECT SUPPORT FROM US. No support of any kind is provided for this release. Enano 1.1.x will not run on PHP 4.x. PHP 5 or PHP 6.0.0-dev is required. This release is nearing our feature completion goals for Caoineag. We plan to push out one more alpha release after 1.1.4 just to make sure things are ready for polishing and that everything we need is there. For the record, 1.1.4 consists of more Mercurial revisions than any other Enano release to date, with 157 revisions (including our 500th) committed from the release of 1.1.3 to the release of 1.1.4. Enano 1.1.4 has 12 fewer files, but many more than that were added and removed. Download this and test it on your test server. You might be impressed. [Less]

Nope, we sure ain't dead. The Enano Team is pleased to announce Enano 1.1.4, the fourth alpha release in the development of Caoineag. We plan to release Enano 1.1.4 on July 12 or perhaps earlier depending on when the codebase reaches completion of ... [More] the features that are being targeted for Enano 1.1.4. This release will feature many fixes (especially performance-related), updates, and new features, and we are very excited to release it. Over the next couple of months, we will be releasing a fifth alpha release and then moving on into the beta and release candidate stages. Enano 1.2.0 will be released in late 2008 or early 2009, depending on what issues are found during the beta and RC cycles. During this time we will need a lot of feedback from users, especially bug reports. If you have a feature that you're dying to see in Enano 1.2, now is the time to make that request. The major feature freeze for Caoineag will take place after Alpha 5, and minor features will be frozen after the second beta. Release candidates will be limited to bugfixes, translations, and security updates. [Less]

I've published a new version of the theme for this site that uses CSS sprites and adds an extra "Developers" button. If the nav bar on the top appears too big, please clear your cache and then reload this page.

As you probably know the demo server runs through my home DSL connection. I've been having some problems with that connection lately. After doing some tests I determined that the most likely cause of the problems is a bad DSL filter, which has just ... [More] been replaced. I'm taking an early look at upgrading my Internet service to avoid downtime in the future. Drop me an e-mail if the server still appears down. [Less]
