The Encyclopedia of Life (EOL) is an open-source website designed to aggregate and present an unprecedented amount of information on every living species.
EOL is using Drupal in the LifeDesk environment, an environment which allows users to contribute knowledge about species in their areas of interest.
Initial code within the project will be developed at the 2008 EOL code sprint in Chicago. Thereafter, this project will also be used for EOL related Drupal modules.
The EOL intends to use this platform as a means to allow programmers from the Drupal community to contribute towards the work of the EOL project.
Further information on the 2008 Sprint can be found at http://sprint.eol.org and further information about the project itself can be found at http://www.eol.org
