F lash O riented R ealtime C ommunication E ngine

FORCE builds on several other open source projects to provide flash developers with a platform on which they can easily build and deploy complex realtime multi-player games.

FORCE uses:

Red5 as it's server. Red5 is awesome. Jedai is FORCE's network layer - jedai means you don't have to worry about network connection and communication. PaperWorld3D extends Jedai's network capabilities to provide multi-user support, PaperWorld3D synchronises objects across multiple clients without you having to write a single line of code. ActionEngine provides FORCE's basic code framework. BrainFarm gives FORCE apps the illusion of intelligence. By combining these projects, which are great by themselves, and adding a set of libraries and components specific to particular purposes, FORCE is a platform on which you can quickly prototype complex games constructed from individual modules that are easy to reuse across projects and can be developed by multiple members of your team.

FORCE has two elements:

A basic 'initialisation' process that uses Inversion Of Control so you can 'wire up' your application rather than having to re-write code to make changes. An intelligent loading mechanism then ensures that eveything you want loads in over the network as quickly as possible so your users don't have to wait any longer than they have to. Modularity - everything in FORCE belongs in a module. You can create modules for almost any purpose and resuse these modules across multiple projects, editing them slightly if necessary. The core modules in the FORCE library provide you with a set of core features. By abstracting all your connection, synchronisation, timing and loading code all you have to worry about is writing your game/business logic and let FORCE take care of the rest.
