Project Summary

In a Long Fat Network (LFN) the Round Trip Time (RTT) and Bandwidth Delay Product (BDP) can affect throughput of a download. Normal FTP downloads suffer. This program reduces this problem by downloading chunks of a given file (slices of a given file) in parallel. A number of threads are used to read at different offsets of a file on the FTP server. FTP REST command is used to retrieve content at a given offset within the file by a thread.

Output can be to a single file or multiple "chunk" files in a directory which can be concatenated later.
