Hello everyone! I would like to inform you about the latest updates on the project, which are quite a lot:(1) New Website: First of all, I'd like to welcome you our new community website! There you can see all the latest updates about the ... [More] development, view the on-line meeting schedule, and see how you can contribute to the development. The forums are also moved there, and the SF forum board is now disabled and will be closed soon. You can also login to the new forums with your sourceforge account. The new website is here: http://www.glorylands.gr(2) New Engine: Since the previous engine (up to release 0.5b - SVN 160) was very complex and quite unstable, a new attempt is under development. This new attempt, code-named "G-Engine", is not a re-implementation of the engine, but rather a clean-up and reform of the previous engine. It wraps all the previous messy code under namespaces and objects and introduces a new object-oriented approach. (3) On-line meetings: In order to help new people to join the development, I am also starting some more frequent on-line meetings and seminars. You can find the schedule and the upcoming meetings here: http://www.glorylands.gr/meetings(4) We are looking for help: We are looking for people to help with the development and documentation of the project. Since the engine starts again from the basics, it is now easier for the newcomers to understand and follow the development. For more details about the requirements visit this link: http://www.glorylands.gr/node/70 (1 comments) [Less]

After a quite long pause of the development, I am back on the development with some new updates. First of all, from now on, the new tracker is the Trac located on http://sourceforge.net/apps/trac/glorylandsweb-b/ and is currently the preferred ... [More] support mechanism. There, you can also view the Roadmap, the Milestones and the development progress. Also, I have started some major updates and cleanups to the engine, and because of that, I'll need some help. That's why I am scheduling a couple of on-line meetings and seminars to encourage new users to get involved with the project. This is the best chance to get familiar with the engine, since the whole structure and operation will be discussed online. Those meetings will take place on IRC (Channel #glorylands on FreeNode) and the dates will be announced on Saturday 26/09/2009. So, everyone is welcome to join the conversation and if you are interested to help with the development, post a reply on the forum thread. Details here : http://sourceforge.net/apps/phpbb/glorylandsweb-b/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=64 [Less]

We welcome the latest game beta release! The new real-time, browser-based, massive multiplayer RPG engine comes back with a lots of new updates!First of all, a lightweight Javascript animation system is introduced. Now the characters can walk, run ... [More] and emote! Additionally, this system enables high quality animation to scenery objects, since 32bit PNGs can be used for sprites. Also, NPCs have now a path-following system, that enables them to walk pre-defined routes. There are also some developer-friendly improvements: The hooks can now be defined in-line and not from the database. This makes the scripts easier to understand. Also, a whole new set of hooks are added. Some of them are (virtually real-time) every-second, every-minute and every-hour triggers, without need of external synchronization (such as cron).Additionally, new caching and translation systems are introduced that speed-up the overall game performance. For instance, the most stressful action took about 1 sec on the previous releases; now it's about 50 ms! Additionally, the MemCache daemon is now fully supported. Finally, the installation system is now capable of upgrading from any previous version with only a few clicks, and most of the compatibility issues that were mandatory, are now optional. For a full Change Log, see the README file, included with the release. You can download the latest game release from here: http://p.sf.net/glorylandsweb-b/downloadYou can always play the latest version of the game here: http://world2.glorylands.gr/We really appreciate your feedback, so feel free to post comments, suggestions, bugs or ask for help on our forums: http://p.sf.net/glorylandsweb-b/forum Finally, if you think the project worths it, please nominate it for the 2009 Community Choice Awards, by visiting this link: http://p.sf.net/glorylandsweb-b/nominate (0 comments) [Less]
