Project Summary

OverviewI just took a look at WebDriver, it looks great and the result is amazing, but I can't use it in my actual application, and its too hard to look at dom elements classes and ids to write a test.

This proyect attempt to makes easy to write automated tests on top of real gwt applications(by firing events using drivers)

The idea:

//Application code
Tree tree = new Tree();
TreeItem item = new TreeItem("item" ...);
tree.addItem(item);
RootPanel.get.add(tree);
testTree(tree);

//Test code
void testTree(Tree tree) {
TreeDriver treeDriver = new TreeDriver(tree);
treeDriver.fireSelectEvent(tree.getItem(0));
}GoalsNative: the test it will be just like the rest of the gwt application Cross-Browser Custom native events ElementDriver Specific drivers for all standard GWT widgets ProsThe test will be deffered binding exacly as the GWT application, so run it on Firefox, Chrome, IE, Safari or Iphone and it will be the same You can write generic tests Your tests will be in your proyect, not outside You don't have to learn something new to write a test Easy to identify witch Objects you want to affect, and send them events Not such problem as delays for HttpRequest get complete, or DOM elements render, the test flow its like the GWT flow
