Project Summary

Kafeh2D is a simple and object-oriented 2-dimensional game engine for the Java Platform. The goal of the project is a reusable and high-level development framework for 2-dimensional game programming in Java or Java-compatible scripting languages (such as JavaScript, JRuby, Jython, and Groovy).

Kafeh2D also includes three other modules, the first called KafehTiled, a light-weight implementation of a Tile-based game, with planned support for 2D, isometric, and hexagonal tiles. The second is KafehNet, a light-weight and high-perfomance networking client module with TCP, UDP, and HTTP support. Finally, included is KafehServ, a dedicated game server base.

Additional tools called KafehTools are also planned, including a MapEditor, MapGenerator, and JavaScript-based PluginSystem.
