LESSA is a cross-platform framework developed for utilization as a technology foundation in assembly of content delivery systems. The project is compile-ready for release as a standalone client or integrated process to support any existing ... [More] application. New to this release is the addition of IPC core that establishes a simple communication channel between Compliant Applications and LESSA. This implementation intentionally avoids exposure of any specific security measures, because doing otherwise would compromise the practical integrity of client. The later versions might include a functional example as template, but only for the purpose of demonstration. Overall, we expect the appropriators of derivative LESSA clients to deal with this issue on per-case (distribution) basis. Also worth mentioning, we made some design changes to the underlying architecture, slightly modifying it by moving IPC into the lower PDO system, for performance reasons. Thanks to everyone who has helped with the project feedback so far, please, don’t hesitate to send your evaluations and comments regarding this new build. Just under a month from the release of our first milestone and a week before the deadline, we are back with SHODAN. This version deals primarily with the implementation of an XML parser, which after thorough consideration we decided to adopt and ... [More] expand from Eckhart Köppen’s tox in favor of building a new one from scratch. As a reminder, our wiki pages are growing and you can already find some general examples under a section of Coders’ Hideout, and also a link to Doxygen-generated code documentation. LESSA is a cross-platform update tracker, developed with a primary goal of growing to a level of an open, community-driven standard for content delivery systems. After nearly five weeks in production, Razor - the first milestone for project, is ... [More] available for preview. Straight from the mouth of our razor-sharp assembly line boss: This first small chunk of code is one of the most, if not the most important LESSA components. Similar to an OS kernel, the PDO layer provides a set of unified interfacing functionalities to platform independent cores (non-PDO) without the burden of OS-dependent constraints. The use of namespace mechanism coupled with a smart modularization makes the syntax appear like JAVA sans the speed compromises. Perhaps one of the toughest tasks has been in abstracting and unifying the Symbian system calls, due to its heavy dependency on proprietary safe types... but it was interesting, and challenges are welcome. You can download this release version (Razor_01b2) from our Files section here: http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=157202 Please, leave any feedback on our forums; your input matters! Hello World and welcome to the very first print of our (broken) propaganda machine. Whether you stumbled here by accident or the magic of Internet search, please stick around for a, hopefully, long series of amusing news from the frontier of our ... [More] little revolution - an exercise in swimming upstream the industry trend. Before we go any further, a bit of background history would be most appropriate. It all started at the break of millennia; when Alessio and I first began to conspire a plan of attack on game industry. After a series of spiffy POCs, tons of documentation about everything and nothing, a few successful side-contributions to Half-Life/2 mod scene and half a dozen of false starts, it was time for us to backpedal to square one and reconsider our ways of approaching the ordeal of independent development as a whole. But this time around, we made a decision to play with open cards. And here we are now with a project bluntly titled as “Yet Another Software Update Tool”. Have we finally given up to the industry trademark of “Me Too” initiatives? Well, let’s hope not and that the project name will retain the purported meaning of an ironical reference to the common naming convention amongst overly creative engineers. Tune in later this week for our next installment - “LESSA is the name, where is the game?” [Less]

LESSA is a cross-platform framework developed for utilization as a technology foundation in assembly of content delivery systems. The project is compile-ready for release as a standalone client or integrated process to support any existing ... [More] application. Short on the heels of Oletus milestone (0.3.20), Ikarus (0.4.22) introduces a networking system core to the growing package of closely-nit elements comprising LESSA. The current build is limited to Windows platform only, but Symbian implementation is soon to follow (check back SVN). Although the project is still in mid-production, we encourage early adopters to provide development feedback on the issues at hand. You can help to ensure that the big 1.0 release of LESSA will tailor to the needs of your projects by giving us input on the running builds. Our little group is expanding and the more, as the saying goes, the merrier. Welcome aboard guys! With the team charting final bits of project course and an aid of a well-respected external party dissecting our high-level design, we are hoping to ... [More] near the completion of planning stage this upcoming week. In other news, we are still looking for a graphic designer to help us spiff up the wiki documentation with a set of use-case diagrams and help develop a more orthodox overall presentation of content on the site. If you would like to help with this task, please get in touch. [Less]

Everyone is right in their own right, so it's only natural that one also works to undermine the foundation of another, whatever the relationship. This project aims to head start collaborative development on a new standard and its first open platform ... [More] for digital content delivery. Let's assume a common point of view that everything on a spectrum between community and its individual is a step towards progress or regress, depending on your belief system. Thus, if a natural course for market leader were to stall the exposure of proprietary advancements, ideally, you would be using this momentum to nurture concepts to maximize their value for early adopters. However, this occurrence is as characteristic of the shortsighted business practice in disorderly prioritizing the first-party benefits, such as exploiting any immediate financial gains in favor of committing to long-term investments. And with a handful of clients on the market already, the lack of standards and centralization effort in game and general segment lays down a reasonable suspicion on the effects of latter. Next, a warm welcome from our leader, "A programmatò, a faticà". [Less]
