linbaku 0.3.1 (unstable alpha) released!Newslinbaku 0.3.1 (unstable alpha) released, please go to its new home for more information and download instructions

Aboutlinbaku is a full system backup/restore program for Linux, a tar archive is used to copy your entire Linux installation for fast, easy restoration when needed. It consists of a GTK menu frontend written in python and pygtk with a shell backend. linbaku has been designed and tested on Ubuntu running GNOME but it could work on other Linux distributions, however its primary focus is on the Ubuntu Linux distribution. I have tested this working on ubuntu 7.10 & 8.04 and Linux Mint 4.0

InstallationRepository installationRun the following commands in the terminal (Applications >> Accessories >> Terminal):
It is easiest to just copy and paste the entire command into the terminal and hitting return after pasting each line
echo "deb http://djeastoe.co.cc/ubuntu/ /" | sudo tee -a /etc/apt/sources.list sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get install linbaku On step 3 you may get a message saying 'Install these packages without verification [y/N]?', type y and then hit return to continue
This is the recommended method as Update Manager will notify you of updates and install the latest linbaku

DISCLAIMER: The packages in this repo are the same as the packages hosted here (and I try to keep these of a high quality). However 3rd party repositories are unsupported by ubuntu and as such all bugs should be reported to me either on the issues tab or at the support thread on the Ubuntu forums
Manual InstallationDownload the current linbaku .deb file Navigate to the .deb file and double click on it to open gdebi package installer Click 'Install package' This method does not automatically notify you of updates and install the latest linbaku
Once installed linbaku can be found at System >> Administration >> linbaku

Blueprints/Featureslinbaku will: create backups in the form of a tar archive allow use of name & destination allocation with a choice of compression (gzip, bzip or none) test for available space and test if there is enough for a backup before starting backup test for FAT32 and backup larger than 4GB, if true backup will not begin not, by default, backup user & root trashes, user thumbnail directories, /cdrom, /media, /mnt, /lost+found, /proc, /sys and /tmp have an easy to use GTK interface which remembers last used settings
