What is Mindset Geometrics?Mindset Geometrics is an open source project design aimed at producing non-conventional charts showing SVG composed by regions with associated information. The component allows you to take regions defined in a SVG format and paint them with different colors according to defined criteria and the data supplied. The SVG graphic can be divided into areas (geometric regions), and each area can be assigned a value, a description and related information.

The component leverages the Degrafa library, which is a declarative graphics framework open source for flex applications. Mindset Geometrics is also designed to have a great visual impact. You can add effects very easily to make your charts look professional and elegant.

GET IT NOW! We are working on adding Adobe Flash Catalyst to Geometrics to improve the way of making the charts and graphics used to show the data. Catalyst is an Adobe tool, which allows you to work with Adobe Photoshop or Adobe Illustrator and incorporate the result into a Flex application in a very easy way. With this new implementation, you won't need to define the regions in SVG, which is a little bit more complicated than Catalyst.

FeaturesGeometric Data Visualization: there are plenty of charts designed for presenting traditionally structured data: 2D and 3D Bar charts and Pie charts, Gauge charts, FlowCharts, etc. This component allows you to show data distributed in a geographic way (areas in an illustration showing related information). Straightforward: this component was developed by programmers for programmers. It can be quickly added to a project with little effort. Customizable Look & Feel: The component includes many colors, effects and legends configurations to use, so it’s easy to combine them to make any project to look different and special. The default look and feel can be customized by means of the provided configuration. Developer friendly: Mindset Geometrics abstracts the developer from all the low level issues, like drawing a region, composing geometry objects using a clear and easy interface and making all the hard work behind the scenes. Low coupling: the component has two different inputs - one xml containing issues relative to the SVG draw, and a collection containing data associated to each region. This way you can show several pieces of information with the same SVG graphic. Extensible: the Mindset Geometrics has many delimited extension points like interfaces and strategy patterns, with them you can customize and change the component as much as you like.
