The MOTHER Literate Operating System takes one of the trickiest areas of computer programming and aims to open it to everyone by using the Literate Programming methodology of Donald Knuth.
The aim of the project is to write the entire OS in a WEB-based programming language so that the source code may be compiled together to form a book, as well as a working operating system, making it easier for people to modify and add to than ever before.
Software should be free, not just as in freedom of use, but freedom to understand!
The MOTHER operating system will based upon a microkernel design and take inspiration from Plan 9. A text based interface will be used initially, however we hope that this will move to a full GUI one later. The operating system will run on Intel's x86 processors, and be written primarily in C(WEB).
