Project Summary

MyISERN-aqua project homeMyISERN is a web based database and interface system that aims to provide the ISERN organization with greater communication and information about their organizations, researchers, and collaborations. Our goal is to help facilitate the relationships and collaborations between members of the ISERN organization.

Features of MyISERN-aqua 2.0A web-based interface to allow easy access by all members of ISERN. A secure login/password system to insure the data within the system remains correct. Data about many researchers including pictures and email. Data about many organizations including affiliated researchers and ongoing collaborations. Data about many collaborations between researchers and organizations. A database to insure the data remains correct and consistent. Easy importing and exporting of XML format documents. UsageUpon first accessing the MyISERN website, the user is asked for a login and password. Once logged in, the user is presented with the following entry page:

BrowsingOnce the user selects the data to be displayed, a table of data appears (the following is the result of selecting Researchers):

The user can easily look at any of the three types of tables.

Addition/Editing of DataThe user can easily add, edit, or delete entries in either of the three tables of data. When clicking "New Entry" a simple data entry page is provided for the user. Likewise, "Edit Row" provides the user with a pre-filled list of fields to be edited.

Error CheckingIf the user performs an operation that causes an error in the system, they are presented with an error message immediately so they may correct it. For example, the following screen shows the result of attempting to add an entry that already exists.

XML Data import/exportThe user can easily import or export an XML file to/from the database. They can simply type a file name in appropriate box and click "Import File" or "Export File." If the user attempts to import a file that does not exist, they are presented with an error message.
