OpenVPN provides authentication via certificates, and via PAM, but if you would like to authenticate against a file that contains names and passwords, the functionality was not there.
My project provides a howto description and files needed to handle authentication against a file containing usernames and passwords. No longer do you need to deal with certificates that are (IMHO) difficult to manage, or have users configured on your system that have no shell. This keeps authentication completely separate and easy to manage.
For installation directions, please see the README.
