Platypus is a comprehensive and easy-to-use page layout and typesetting system.
Similar in concept to tools such as TeX, Platypus adds new features, especially ease of use, to the generation of documents of all kinds. Planned are features of particular benefit to developers and technical writers, such as intelligent, language-sensitive support for listings and code snippets.
Input consists of text files with embedded commands and specifications (similar in concept to troff and TeX). These files are converted to PDF using the iText library, Word RTF (in early development), or HTML (coming soon).
Written in Java. Not feature complete, but under active development. Binaries, code, docs, and schedule of releases at the website.
