PodWire is an extremely compact, flexible, and easy to implement format for encoding and transferring messages consisting of dictionaries of key/value pairs. It is designed with low-level network and wire protocols in mind, and will be used in the to-be-developed Anode Protocol. It should also work very well for binary file formats and serialization.
Take a look at PodWireFormat for a description of the format, and take a look at the source area for reference implementations (coming soon!).
Its name is intended to be humorous but also critical in that PodWire bucks the contemporary trend of using flabby overkill encodings like XML to implement protocols. If the snarky acronym bothers you, you can feel free to invent another one.
