UPDATE: the first 1.4.004 packages contained two bugs: - felamimail gave an error "no egw_simple toolbar set" - the spellchecker / aspell did not work (it need to be configured and enabled in Admin >> Site configuration) The 1.4.004-2 ... [More] tar.bz2, tar.gz and zip packages and the 1.4.005-15 rpm packages are fixing the above errors. ==> WE RECOMMEND EVERYONE UPDATES AS SOON AS POSSIBLE! The update includes all previous 1.4 updates and requires no schema update (if you upgrade within the 1.4 release). The fixed security problems are grave, if you have directories writable by the webserver in you docroot (in most windows server the complete docroot writable by default, but many linux servers are also set up that way). The new version 2.6 of FCKeditor supports now newer Safari and Opera browsers, see http://www.fckeditor.net Please note: as FCK contains many static javascript and css files, you and your users might have to delete the browser cache after the update! tar.bz2, tar.gz and zip files are downloadable from sf.net 1.4.004 RPMs are available from our repositories at opensuse.org: http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/server:/eGroupWare/ Ralf [Less]

fixed security problem reported by [email protected] ==> we recommend everyone updates to this release ASAP! many bugfixes since 1.4.001/2 a complete list of the changes is available via the changelog Download ... [More] Tar and Zip packages from sourceforge.net. Please note that notification, importexport and SyncML require php5.1, while the rest of eGW 1.4 requires only php4.3! Please remember you always need the additional egroupware-pear package! Our wiki has update instructions and the 1.4 release notes. Rpm's for SuSE, Fedora & Mandriva are available via the egroupware repository at SuSE build service: There are now also repository files (*.repo), which can be used for Yast or Yum to make the eGroupWare repository available to your package management. This update had to be produced on very short notice, as the original mail to [email protected] was bounced, by the mail infrastructure operated by the former project member Lars Kneschke. The project has no control over it and the egroupware.org domain, which is owned by the Lars Kneschke. In spite of his public statement that the egroupware.org domain belongs to the project, he has not transferred the domain to the eGroupWare project. He was contacted multiple times and was sent a transfer form, he only need to sign. We ask everyone to politely contact Lars Kneschke ([email protected]) and the Tine project to help convincing them to transfer the egroupware.org domain to the eGroupWare project. If we can't get control over the domain or it get switched off or to a different website, we have to switch the eGroupWare infrastructure to www.egroupware-server.org The eGroupWare admins [Less]

Since Tine has now violated the press clause in the admin statement from December at least twice, we have decided to take action in response.  This was done after private discussion with Lars and Conny: 1. From now on, Tine is no longer part of ... [More] the eGroupware project.  They have 1 week from today to copy their svn contents elsewhere. 2. The two eGroupWare developers and project members Lars Kneschke and Cornelius Weiss are hereby expelled from the project due to their repeated acts against the project.  They have been warned and appear to have no remorse nor respect for the rules of the project. The admins - Ralf Becker, Miles Lott, Pim Snel [Less]

The Ajax Select Widget is used all over pERP to allow the user to select one entry from a potentially very large list. You'll see it any time you need to choose a stock item, shipment, invoice, etc. It worked, but not very well. John Trudel did ... [More] some work in January to get it going with Internet Exploder. Raphaël Alla recently submitted a patch to make the tab key select the top entry.Nudged on by these two, I finally added up and down arrow key support. So now the user can type in a search term, hit the down arrow to select from their results, and press tab to go on to the next field. Or, if the user knows the exact reference (Stock number, for instance), they can enter the number, press tab, and the first (and only) result will be selected.Much nicer. (0 comments) [Less]

About this time two years ago, we came to the conclusion that reworking webERP's UI as we originally hoped wasn't going to work for us. After several name rejections (bERP, twERP, wyattERP), I started projectERP as a group of applications for ... [More] eGroupWare. It was registered on SourceForge 2006-05-02, and since the first packaged release in October 2006, has averaged about 200 downloads per month, even though the last release is 4 months old. After 2 years, pERP has 76,433 Lines of code, at an estimated cost of 19 Person Years, or more than 1 million dollars [http://www.ohloh.net/projects/3950]. These numbers are a little inflated: it only took 2 man years, and I certainly didn't get paid a million. I'm not done yet. On the wish list for the near future is better integration and usability for manufacturing, better tools to make initial setup easier, payroll, Electronic Fund Transfers and warranty. The distant future will hopefully contain better shipping & receiving tools, automatic purchase orders based on demand, and asterisk integration. As always, I hope that this coming year we'll start using pERP here in a production environment. A few brave souls are already doing so, and I'd like to thank all the other developers who have taken the time to give pERP a test and reported on their experience.Nathan Gray (0 comments) [Less]

Since 2008, January 2th, you can get a printed User Manual in English language, beside the German one available since some years. The User Manual Version 1.4 contains several descriptions of the eGroupWare applications and one Chapter about ... [More] "getting started" in the popular eGroupWare modules. The manual has 180 pages and nearly 110 colored screenshots. You can download an extract of the manual here. The manual is available on the Stylite online shop (worlwide shipping, e.g. USA, Canada, Europe) The manual was translated by a professional translator from the German User Manual to English. The English Manual is now complete online available. Thanks to Ingo Kreißelmeyer from Outdoor Unlimited Training (Germany) and Francisco Peralta from Velocity Medical Management (USA). [Less]
