The goal of Rephaos is to further develop and polish the php engine created for World of Phaos as well as modularizing its graphic design and functionality, creating from it a framework upon which many different browser-based RPGs can be created.
This project is currently in ALPHA. While the game is basically playable, there are numerous bugs, unimplemented or half-implemented features and the combat system will need to be reworked.
Current To-Do:0.0.1.0 -> #CURRENT# base version is the same as World of Phaos 0.9.81 0.0.1.1 -> basic ability to separate presentation from logic 0.0.1.2 -> planned: database refinement, restructure files 0.0.1.3 -> planned: tune code for php5, introduce chat client 0.0.1.6 -> planned: revamp admin section 0.0.2.0 -> planned: set up semi-public server to play on, first package for public download 0.0.2.1 -> planned: make stats and combat actually do something useful 0.0.2.2 -> planned: make locking-picking and disarm traps do something/ create locks and traps 0.0.X.X -> repeat as needed. ???? Profit! 0.1.X.X -> BETA play-testing These are really rough estimates and are subject to change.
ContributeAs of your reading this I am the only person working on this project. This is a project I am taking on as I test my novice PHP abilities, so it is as much a classroom laboratory as anything else. As such, your comments, suggestions, bug reports and the like are gratefully accepted.
I am, however, not currently adding contributors other than myself to the project. If you are interested in contributing then you can e-mail me your modification and I will enter it with an inline attribution. Once there are three or four of us talking about this project I will create a google groups or set up a forum for discussion.
The no-app policy will definitely change as the project matures, and I hope that by the time beta swings into action we have not only a core development team, but a solid base of webmasters and players stretching the limits as far as they can. And maybe I'll have learned a few more PHP tricks by then - but knowing my bong-skills I will have already forgotten it all. At least epic adventure lasts forever!
