Project Summary

Shell.NET - shell replacement library for the CLRMission StatementTo develop a .NET CLR DLL that allows an application to fully take over the roles and responsibilities of the Windows Shell (explorer.exe)

Free and Open SourceShell.NET is completely free and open source - this means that you can download the code behind it, and see what makes it tick. It also means that you can make any changes you like to the code, as long as those changes are given back to the community. To find out more, click the "GNU General Public License v3" link on the right hand side.

Supported PlatformsSince this will be replacing the Windows Shell, it should only be too obvious that this will only work on Windows systems. Planned support is for:

Windows XP Windows Vista Windows 7

On Windows Vista and Windows 7, Shell.NET will also allow a derived application to (to some extent) control/take advantage of the Desktop Window Manager (the Windows subsystem that generates the Windows Aero look and feel and creates application thumbnails)
