Project Summary

Spending Tracker is an online personal finance management application. The concept of the application is to create fully anonymous tool, consisting of single, powerful main screen, accompanied by some optional detail screens. The application is extremely simple to understand and use by providing a single at a glance view of whole personal budget and by providing a quick start from scratch ability for users with no registration process required.

The main application screen is designed to allow users entering assumptions in regards to all categories of incomes and expenditures. The main screen reports assumed values for each category of incomes and expenses in each month. The main screen reports balances between incomes and expenses in each month of the current year. The main screen also displays contrasts between assumed category values and actually recorded income and expense totals, therefore allowing users to make adjustments in assumptions and observe the impact on overall budget balances.

The application is targeting ASP.NET 2.0 framework, it has been developed in Visual Studio 2005, written in C#. Current version is utilising Microsoft SQL Server 2000 and Developer Express ASPxGrid and Editors 7 suite. You need to obtain the above products in order to proceed with full development process, however please feel free to contribute to the project if you're only equipped with some of the above tools. There are plenty of optimisations to be made and all code snippets, technical or functional suggestions are welcome.
