Project Summary

The New Era Hello, and welcome to my newest project, The New Era (TNE). I figured that with 317/377 server's getting old, we have to look at new idea's bring back the good old days. So I have thought of a WHOLE new idea: Avatar-based Server. Example: http://godsoftime.com

Server Ip: battleland.no-ip.org

When you start the game, you will choose a race Human or Undead. From those two you will choose Human, Gnome, Elf, Zombie, Skeleton ect... When you choose a race, you get that npc as your body. Currently, I'm adding Human and Skeleton class for starters.

At level 50, you choose a class (Melee, Mage, Ranger) And then you will get that npc.

So if your a gnome archer, you will look like http://www.runehq.com/database.php?type=monster&id=620

Each Race has it's own territory: Undead: Canfis and Wilderness. Human: Camolot and other human cities (ie. Varrock).

These Areas are basically places other races will not be able to enter at all. If you try, you will either be teleported back a step or simply killed. (Except during town sieges, but more about that later).

Stats: Stat points will depend on the race and class you have. The undead will gain stat points when they kill other people. The humans will get stat points from creating things like fetching and crafting. It will be balanced out so that each race and class can train just as fast.

Skills:Skills will be a lot different from rs style. The mage class is the only class that will have the magic spell book available. Every other class will rely on skill, pray, and pots. Mage's will be able to enable buffs and heal other players. Other classes will have "skills" or what is known as "special attacks". They will be different from the regular ones as I will have to make them match up to the npc you are.

Equipment: If anyone has ever played the example I have at top (godsoftime), you would know how equipment works. Every race will have a set of equipment. When you wear it, it wont be visible on you, but it will give attack/def bonuses like in real rs. Also, certain items will be required to use skills, like for example a mage will need a staff to use spells.

PK: Different races can attack other races anywhere on the whole map except in specific places "Safe Zones" (Kind of like RS PVP World). Also, there will be Team Tournaments. Basically like RS Fight Pits, except people in the same Race will act as a team, and try to wipe out the other teams/races.

Town Sieges: The fun part of the server is that it will be team oriented. Races can take over towns that aren't occupied, and can attack towns that are. To take over a town will basically be like king of the hill.. For example, the humans occupy White Wolf Mountain. At the top of the mountain will be a marked area. If the undead attack white wolf mountain, they have to have 10 people stand in the area at the top for a certain time (i.e. 5 min). If someone gets out of the area, or gets killed, the timer is reset. If a human enters that area, the timer pauses. When the time is up, the undead control the mountain. Any human near the area is automatically killed.

The Work: So, this sounds like a huge project that will be made half way and then stopped. Well, I plan to get a huge team together and make this happen. I am determined to finish this project and make it right. I hope that in the process I learn something out of this:s

The server will be SILAB-COMPATIBLE, however in the future I might make a web client.

BETA:EVERYONE can beta-test my server, to find the bugs faster.
