Happy New Year to the entire TYPO3 community! As we welcome 2025, let’s take a look back at the key developments in December 2024. This edition covers core updates, exciting contributions from our community, upcoming TYPO3 events, and more.

Each month, we take the opportunity to celebrate TYPO3 contributors in our Developer Appreciation Day post. Please take a moment to share gratitude for their continued passion, commitment, and time they give to making TYPO3 CMS awesome.

At the beginning of February 2025, TYPO3 Core developer Oliver Bartsch will return to FOSDEM, an enormous open-source event in Brussels. I had the opportunity to talk with him about his previous visit, in February 2024.

2024 was a transformative year for TYPO3, featuring the launch of the TYPO3 Partner Program, global event participation, team expansion, and TYPO3 v13 releases. Web Camp Venlo will celebrate its tenth anniversary from 13 to 15 February 2025. This milestone event will bring together professionals and enthusiasts in web development, PHP, TYPO3, frontend technologies, and open source in Venlo, The Netherlands.

Oli gives us an update on the former Motivation Research Team’s participation in the annual EMPAMOS barcamp, where they connected with the community, shared their research, and explored new ideas for enhancing teamwork and leadership.

The TYPO3 Localization Team gathered in Düsseldorf for a full week during the TYPO3 Community Sprint Q4/2024 and made the TYPO3 extension, Crowdin, a reality. The extension provides an “In-Context” feature which enables TYPO3 backend users to translate labels of the TYPO3 Core and extensions directly in the TYPO3 backend.
