opscode-ohai

Compare

  Analyzed 3 months ago

Ohai detects data about your operating system. It can be used standalone, but it's primary purpose is to provide node data to Chef. Ohai will print out a JSON data blob for all the known data about your system. When used with Chef, that data is reported back via node attributes. This section ... [More] of the Wiki describes using ohai and writing plugins for it. [Less]

mcollective

Compare

  Analyzed 7 months ago

The Marionette Collective aka. mcollective is a framework to build server orchestration or parallel job execution systems. Primarily we'll use it as a means to programmatically execute actions on clusters of servers. In this regard we operate in the same space as tools like Func, Fabric or ... [More] Capistrano. We've attempted to think out of the box a bit designing this system by not relying on central inventories and tools like SSH, we're not simply a fancy SSH "for loop". MCollective uses modern tools like Publish Subscribe Middleware and modern philosophies like real time discovery of network resources using meta data and not hostnames. Delivering a very scalable and very fast parallel execution environment. Read the Introduction page for a full introduction about what you can do with [Less]

BitesBites is a cook book application. Recipes can be created on your phone, downloaded from the web and shared with friends via sms. Pick a recipe to make, tick off the ingredients you need, then add the ones you need to the shopping list in Trolly or sms them to someone to pick up for you. Usage ... [More] ScenarioYou decide to make your famous fish curry for yourself, your partner and a couple of guests, so you grab your phone, open the fish curry recipe and tick the ingredients that you can't find in the cupboard. The ingredients that are ticked can now be added to a shopping list e.g. (Trolly)or sent via sms to your partner who is on the way home from work so they can pick them up. Sharing RecipesSharing recipes couldn't be easier with two simple options. Simply select a recipe in Bites and send it to any other phone via sms. Phones with Bites installed will allow adding the recipe directly to the Bites database, but even phones without Bites receive the recipe as plain text. Use your phone to download a Bites recipe file from any website (here are some recipes to start with) to add it to your recipe book. See the RecipeFileFormat page for a recipe file template so you can start posting your own recipes. For usage and installation instructions see InstallationInstructions If you enjoy using Bites and would like to help fund further development please donate.
