To learn how to work with a computer a toddler needs something simple and computer safe with very noticeable interaction. pyToddler follows this concept (in the example of Crayonify.exe which used C++ and wxWidgets) using Python to allow the games to be easily customized. Requires: Python 2.4 ... [More] PyGame 1.7.1 Toddlers Includes: pyCheese Designed to help the child practice aiming at a target with the mouse. The goal of pyCheese is to help a friendly mouse eat the cheese that appears on the screen. A big thank you to Cornelius for designing the graphics in the default theme. (Giving the script an argument will present you with the original ugly theme.) pyCrayon Designed to help the child understand that moving the mouse and clicking the buttons can produce visible results on the screen. This is a near clone of the original Crayonify. pyKeys Learn about keyboard interaction while practicing numbers and letters. NEW pytoddler now comes with a single executable (pyToddler.py) and displays a graphical menu to choose activites. Big thanks to Michael Greb for the idea and some code. ESC exits from the activites. Alt+F4 exits from the menu. [Less]

Update 12 Feb 2009 - Game Baker 0.2.1 ZIP TAR.GZ DEB Changes Update 8 June 2008 - Game Baker 0.2.0 ZIP TAR.GZ DEB Changes To install on Ubuntu download the .deb and run "sudo dpkg -i game-baker-0.2.1.deb" Game Baker is a visual game editor, easy enough for children and fun enough for adult ... [More] game creators. It is designed to be cross platform and is released under an open source license. Please see the wiki for more information on project goals. Common Links: Architecture, Installing, wiki, Demo Games, Bug Reporting / Feature Request Getting Game BakerIf you are using Unix, or you know what SVN is it is probably best to get the svn snapshot by running the command svn checkout http://game-baker.googlecode.com/svn/trunk/ game-baker-read-only , which will download the newest version to a new folder. Otherwise, you can download the most recent .zip or .deb (for installation on Ubuntu / Debian etc.) from the downloads page To run the application you will need python, pygame and pygtk. If you are on Linux you will probably only need to get pygame (in ubuntu type "sudo apt-get install python-pygame" ). If you are on Windows visit the links above. Mac users should (I think) only need pygame. Once you have downloaded Game Baker try running one of the test games in the demos folder. If you are interested in helping out please download the source from subversion and look through the demos folder. You will come across missing features and bugs, please report them using the Issues tab above. Please also note that the codebase is too young to be stable, and future updates to SVN may break games designed using an older release. Helping OutIf you are interested in helping to code Game Baker please see our development group http://groups.google.com/group/game-baker If you are interested in helping to create demo games or in creating games using Game Baker please see the section above. If you are interested in creating free graphics or sounds to release with Game Baker, please see our developer group. If you are interested in helping to debug and improve Game Baker please try to create a simple game with it, or try to run the demos. Report any bugs you find (there will be lots), along with your operating system and any other details on the Issues tab above. [Less]

This is a code base for creating sites for helping sponsor children. It is possible that this code base may in the future be something that others could use as a basis for starting their own children support websites. However, for now, it is centered around supporting children from Nepal.
