SummaryA shell script able to handle the oled display of ASUS G`*`series notebooks, thanks to the capabilities of asus_oled driver. The oled present in such machines is usually a 256x32 display intended to show system information and player messages from gaming consoles. It currently supports ... [More] the first, the second is work in progress. Advantages It does not need to run with super user permissions for most tasks. Is intended to be KISS compliant1, so it is supposed to: # Have a gentle and concise syntax. # Start and resume very fast. # Not needing unnecessary dependencies. # Consume as few system resources as possible. Modules are mainly written in AWK! as it is widely proven to be the best or, at least, one of the best choices for data mangling2. Modules can be written in any language. DependenciesDr. Green is easily usable as a daemon (daemonizable) and it solely depends on base system (a few basic *nix shell utilities) and figlet (a banner alike program) to get the job done. DocumentationSee README.txt Please read the WIKI FAQ or FAQ.txt, included in the package, if you wonder why I started my own project instead of contributing to asusG50oled. Glossary1 Keep it simple, stupid. 2 Technical jargon describing the process of acquiring information and data management. [Less]

twitter-using-api

Compare

This project is based on the utilisation of the API's provided by twitter for shell. The project will provide a faster and an easier interface to send and receive tweets, message, follow, block etc. The time required to send a tweet, receive a tweet, message etc. is reduced by a huge amount by the ... [More] use of APIs and it even saves a lot of unnecessary file download. And the whole script will be wrapped around a GUI to make it easier of the user. Version 1.1 Few bugs have been fixed in the updated version ie. final_v1.1 .. The input in the password box is not echo(ed) on the screen. and the program continues unless 'Exit' is clicked. PROCEDURE TO INSTALL 1) download the file to your home folder 2) open shell and go to the folder where you have downloaded the file. (home folder in this case) 3) in shell type "chmod +x final_v1.1.sh" 4) ./final_v1.1.sh [Less]

[Less]

linuxrules

Compare

  Analyzed about 2 years ago

Linux rules is project started from oddfx set of rules for reading Linux system information. It is very simple, stand-alone and is intended to read as much Linux system information as possible in a single pass. AWK is the chosen language for obvious reasons: * Speed (Much simpler, smaller and ... [More] often faster than C/C++ code) * Maintainability * Portability (AWK is omnipresent in every Linux based distribution) With the way output is produced and the speed at which it is obtained, linuxrules could be easily used in conjunction with dmenu2, ratpoison native menus or even used in a pipeline to feed a shell prompt. Future releases will include means of starting hooks/actions from linuxrules itself. Please check out WIKI [Tests] and [Help] sections for further information. [Less]
