Sharpdevelop repo failed

Hello,

Can you reprocess the Sharp Develop trunk.

Also, if I ware to make a separate project for SharpReports, would it be possible to move the existing enlistment from sharpdevelop to sharpreports? Might bee a good feature from ohlohs point of view since processing a repo is an intensive process.

Hi Zippy,

We reuse repository information already; this is important to us because some projects share repos. So go ahead and create a project for SharpReports. As long as you use the exact same url for the repo, we'll be able to reuse the information we already have.

Regarding your first question: Can you reprocess the trunk? I found that our downloads had failed. I rescheduled them and they succeeded. Did you instead want us to do a clean re-import of everything?

Thanks

SharpDevelop is still not updating. What can be done so it will automatically update on a regular basis?

Hi Zippy,

There was an error during checkout of revision 3092 -- we got a permissions violation because Subversion appeared to by trying to create a temp file in C:\WINDOWS\TEMP.

That's a very curious result; the only thing I can think is that perhaps there was a symlink to C:\WINDOWS\TEMP somewhere in the file tree.

Looking over the log, I couldn't find any sign of this. A local checkout on my development box failed to reproduce the problem.

Does this ring any bells at all?

I've rescheduled the download, and I'll take another look at this if it fails again.

Thanks,
Robin

Robin,

I asked the other sharpdevelop developers. Will let you know if anyone has any ideas.

Robin,

We were getting the temp error again. We don't know why this happens, the solution is to get someone to restart the svn server. Is it possible for you to requeue the repo automatically when this happens. As soon as we notice we can't commit we complaint on the list until Chris restarts the service.

Hi zippy,

I restarted the download. I'll keep an eye on it today.

Not to be obnoxious, but you do know that the big forges are free, right? (/ducks for cover)

Personally, I'm ok with a Sourceforge svn repo. The lead developers are not.

And not to be obnoxious, but would it be to hard to automatically schedule a retry 24 hours later when a repo fails to be polled? Three strikes every 24 hours would put minimal load on the servers and give developers enough time to bother their admins to kick their servers.

We automatically reschedule downloads when the error looks like something familiar and temporary -- a connection reset, and DNS failure, a server timeout, etc.

When the error is something unique, the system doesn't reschedule until a human intervenes.

We reschedule with an exponential backoff... starting at about an hour and extending up to a week. If after about 2 weeks' wait the job still won't go through, we stop trying.
