GetPaid enlistments dissappeared

Hi,

We restructured our repository and instead of having all our individual products under trunk, now each is split out.

On Friday I updated the enlistments to get them all at http://www.ohloh.net/projects/GetPaid/enlistments . I waited around to make sure they started getting processing...and then when I came back this morning to check on it they were all gone :( . There were 18 there! Any idea what happened? Hopefully you can get them back so I don't have to go manually entering again.

Thanks,

Chris

I'm very sorry, Chris, but on Friday night we had to restore our project data from Thursday night's snapshot. Any project edits made late Thursday night until Friday afternoon were lost.

I hate to tell you this, but all 18 enlistments will need to be re-entered and started over. If there's anything I can do to help, let me know.

Thanks,
Robin

:(:(:(:(:(
when would be a safe time to redo this?

@ifpeople

I totally understand your frustration. In truth, though, you got really, really unlucky: last Friday was our first case of data rollback/loss since we originally launched in 2006. Our sincerest apologies.

Hi Jason,

Thanks for the reply...yeah, bad timing indeed. Ohloh's an interesting service to have as reference and I have appreciated it. Are things back to normal now?

We have been sprinting on GetPaid (www.plonegetpaid.com ) and that was one of the things we took care of on Friday...will try to get to it again this Fri when we sprint again.

Cheers,
Chris

Hi ifpeople,

Yes, everything is back to normal now.

Btw, GetPaid is a really interesting project. I've often wondered why there aren't more solutions like this for most dev stacks. Best of luck with the sprint!

Hey, thanks, Jason. Appreciate that!

Ok, sprinting off and running...enlistments back in Ohloh and looks like they have started processing as well.

Thanks again.

Hi again,

Are the updates working properly?

I added 19 enlistments 24 hrs ago. About half say they have updated, and half still in queue (see http://www.ohloh.net/projects/GetPaid/enlistments?page=1 )

Even though some have updated, the report is not showing any new lines of code (should be total close to 50k when it finishes; the total now is what it had before I started updating enlistments again yesterday). And not sure why so slow to grab the others....

Thanks,
Chris

If I remember correctly, the project report is only regenerated/updated after all the enlistments have successfully been updated.

Hi Christopher,

I took a look through our logs for this project to see what is going on. It turns out that we have been getting a lot of 502 Bad Gateway errors while syncing to the Subversion server. This is a routine error for this forge, but it's rare to get so many of them.

Each time our system gets one of these errors, it waits progressively longer to retry. So some of the repositories have already completed, but we are still waiting for a retry on some of them. I do expect them to finally complete -- I don't see anything unusual and Google is usually a very solid forge.

Regarding the update, James is correct -- we won't update the report until all of the downloads have completed.

I'll keep an eye on this to make sure it gets updated today.

Thanks,
Robin

Hey Robin,
Thanks for the update. I guess we ran into some more problems? Seems only 2 enlistments went through today. Let me know if there is anything we can do...we have been working on the repo all day today and no one reported any problems...

Hmm, it's strange that we are getting so many disconnections.

I'm speculating here, but I wonder if Google can only maintain a certain number of open connections to a particular repository. We've got a dozen connections open full-time for the downloads, and perhaps as each new user comes in and out, one of our servers gets disconnected. Normal users won't see any interruption since they stay connected only briefly.

That's just speculation. For now, I've made sure that all of these downloads are going to keep retrying through the weekend, and I've bumped their priority. Really, I do think they will eventually finish, but with all the interruptions it might take a few more days.

Thanks,
Robin

still got 1 failing update...any suggestions on this? Would love to see the updated stats...which seem to be pending this one enlistment now.

Thanks,
Chris

Hi Christopher,

We did finally manage to make a pass through every repository, so our report is current as of about a week ago.

We are continuing to see ongoing HTTP 503 errors with this project. Our system keeps rescheduling them, so they do eventually complete.

The first download is always the longest, and after that we just need to pull the deltas, so my hope is that the errors will become less of a problem going forward.

Thanks,
Robin

What happened to http://getpaid.googlecode.com/svn/PloneGetPaid/trunk?

I was seeing all kinds of troubles, and upon digging further it appears that this URL no longer exists!

Should I delete it from our list?
