Just signed up and lost the kudos.

Hi.

I've just signed up to Ohloh. I connected to my name (data related to the PHP documentation work I do/done).

The name had Kudos of 9. Now it is one after I've signed up.

Is that normal?

Regards,

Richard.

Yes. It will take some time, but after a while (1-2 days in my case) Ohloh has catched up on itself and you'll have your kudos back.

Hi RQuadling,

Kudos are recalculated once per day, so your kudos should be restored soon.

However, for the next 2 days, Ohloh is going into maintenance mode while we move our operations to a new data center. So it might be as late as Thursday of this week before another Kudos calculation is run. If it hasn't been restored by then, let me know and I'll investigate.

Thanks,
Robin

What EXACTLY is Kudos? I've got 9, but I can't see who gave them.

If user A stacks project P, and user B claims contributions for project P as their own, B gets some kudos as a result. It depends on how many contributors there are for P, and how many people stack P, IIRC.

Hi RQuading,

Kudos is an arbitrary developer ranking from 1 (lowest) to 10 (highest).

When you give kudos to another developer on Ohloh, this boosts the ranking for that developer.

When you add a project to your stack, this adds a small boost to the ranking for all of the contributors to that project.

Your ranking of 9 does not come from direct kudos -- it comes almost entirely from your work on PHP, which thousands of developers have added to their stacks.
