Uploading/external Linking of Avatars

I don't use this gravatar
service (or however it is called) and don't plan to, in the future. Yet, having an Avatar picture would be quite neat.
I'd suggest that you allow users to either upload a picture or to specify an external link that the user could host the picture on her/his own server.
