Fura is a self-contained grid middleware that allows the grid enablement and distribution of applications on heterogeneous computational resources. Fura features a web-based GUI, wizard-guided installation and configuration, and Web Services ... [More] compliance. The 1.5.6 version has been released. The following improvements have been implemented: - Fixed a portal error when trying to start a task that its already running. (FB12050) - Fixed an issue when using read-only files with the agent. (FB11789) - When the agent (re)starts it cleans up their directories, even if they contain read-only files. (FB12096) - Fixed a portal error when trying to delete a task without having permissions to do it. (FB12088) - Fixed a portal error when trying to reset a task. We are proud to announce the immediate availability of the Fura 1.5-alpha source code for download. This version contains only minor changes in its public interface and APIs, but large refactorings in its internals, which have highly improved ... [More] factors like scalability and stability. Also, we have started to integrate in this version some developments performed in EU funded projects GridSystems is, or has been involved in, like NextGRID and @neurIST. The source code is available for download at: http://sf.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=188380&package_id=220488 - The Fura Team [Less]

We have been working hard these days in preparing our code for generating a complete technical web site for this project. Now, we are proud to say we have something to show, at last! It is still a work in progress, but it will be a matter of days ... [More] to be completed. If you feel curious, take a look at our renewed site at http://fura.sourceforge.net/ ;-) Cheers, - The Fura Team [Less]

Fura features a web-based GUI, wizard-guided installation and configuration, and Web Services ... [More] compliance. The 1.5.5 version has been released. The following improvements have been implemented: - File handles related to the task logs are now closed when the task finishes. This significantly reduces the number of open handles. - Some improvements related to memory management by the agent and its self-healing mechanism. - Now the temporal directory where the agent downloads the files is configurable. The default location has also been changed. Previous default location was /tmp, now it is the agent installation directory. In any case, now the agent checks the FURATMP environment variable. If it exists, the value of the variable is used as the location of the temporal directory for the agent. If not, the default location is used. - The mechanism to detect if a task has changed and thus must be serialized has also been improved. This significantly reduces the load of the serialization process. This reduction of load should be more noticeable when using NFS volumes to store the repository. - The portal has been optimized to deal with thousands of tasks. Now it loads the details of each task much faster than before. Fura features a web-based GUI, wizard-guided installation and configuration, and Web Services compliance. [Less]
