As many of you will be aware, Schedules Direct are making some changes to their data feed. This is nothing to be alarmed about, as long as you update to the latest release of MythTV (0.27.4) everything will continue to work as it always has. There ... [More] have been many scare stories and false reports in the last few weeks and we want you to know that all that is changing is the address of the server from which MythTV retrieves the guide data. This change has already been made and many people are already using the new address. For more information please see the wiki - Schedules Direct URL Change Unfortunately it seems this news was confused with news of an entirely new JSON feed from Schedules Direct. This feed brings some minor improvements to the Schedules Direct service for MythTV users, and official support for it will come to MythTV through a new XMLTV grabber in due course. An unofficial MythTV grabber was released by Schedules Direct for this new feed but we recommend against it's use. It inserts data directly into the MythTV database, bypassing MythTV's ability to sanity check, correct and act upon information at a single point of insertion. We will be unable to assist users who run this grabber if they encounter bugs or broken features as a result. So, to repeat, if you upgrade to MythTV 0.27.4 you will continue receive the same Schedules Direct service that you always have with no further action required on your behalf. Official support for the entirely new JSON feed will be added later. [Less]

This change has already been made and many people are already using the new address. Unfortunately it seems this change was mixed with news of an entirely new JSON feed from Schedules Direct. This feed brings some minor improvements to the Schedules Direct service, but MythTV has decided not to use it at this time. An unofficial MythTV grabber was released by Schedules Direct for this new feed without consultation with the MythTV team. Please do not use this grabber!. It inserts data directly into the MythTV database, bypassing MythTV's ability to sanity check, correct and act upon information at a single point of insertion. We will be unable to assist users who run this grabber if they encounter bugs or broken features as a result. So let me repeat, if you upgrade to MythTV 0.27.4 you will continue to use Schedules Direct with no further action required on your behalf. Do not use any of the other unofficial solutions such as the 'JSON' grabber from Schedules Direct. [Less]

This is a standard bug fix snapshot of the stable 0.27 branch. For a complete list of changes see the Changelog As normal all users are advised to upgrade to benefit from a variety of bug fixes. Important: If you a Schedules Direct user you must ... [More] upgrade to this release before the 1st November 2014 to continue receiving your guide data without interruption. This is due to a change in the feed address, with the old feed ceasing to work on the previously mentioned date. You need only upgrade, nothing further is required, the data feed is exactly the same it is only the URL which is different. [Less]

0.27 is now available, unless you're one of the many who have been running it since the Release Candidate, in which case it continues to be available! We thought about giving this release a wacky codename, an idea that became even more popular after ... [More] the news of Android KitKat raised the prospect of a corporate tie-in. At this time sadly our emails to the PR departments of several major breweries have gone unanswered, so the release continues to be called 0.27 and we remain (mostly) sober. This release saw a determined effort to squash bugs, particularly those found through Static Analysis (Coverity, Cppcheck) and alternate compilers (Clang, Visual Studio et al). This is an on-going effort, but 0.27 has seen issues reported by those applications drop by 95%. Major new features include support for streaming music stations in mythmusic, Airplay photo sharing and an Airtunes OSD. For our users in the UK and Ireland there is improved Interactive TV support, with iPlayer for Freesat, ConnectedTV for Freeview and Soarview! A full listing can be found in the Release Notes (still being updated). Other changes include a number of improvements to the recording scheduling interface to make it simpler for the most common usage, these have proved very popular in feedback from beta testers. I'd like to remind everyone that 0.25.x has now reached End of Life and 0.26.x is End of Support. Please upgrade to 0.27 to benefit from bug fixes and to receive support. [Less]
