General Discussion : Licences

I was surprised to find MPL listed as licence. I checked and found out that some files (libhnj, gdk-pixbuf) have a dual licence MPL/LGPL, so there's no real conflict. BSD style licences are used for ... [More] some of the hyphenation dictionaries. Scribus versions 1.3.2 - 1.3.4 have an exception to the GPL which allows linking to a commercial Qt3 library on Windows. Since Scribus 1.3.5 will be based on Qt4, this exception will probably be dropped then. [Less]

Technical Issue Help : Ohloh doesn't detect the projects license (and I can't edit the post body which is horribly formatted)

Hi jaumedejuan, It turns out that our GPL license detector was a little finicky, and it wasn't matching your citation. I've updated the code, and run your project through the mill again. GPL is now ... [More] turning up in your project. Thanks for coming to Ohloh. Let me know if you have any more questions, Robin [Less]

General Discussion : There's More to Firefox

Based on the Firefox report on Ohloh, you might come away with the mistaken impression that Firefox was achieved with only 50,000 lines of code. However, the Firefox project page listed here shows ... [More] only code that is unique to the browser, which extends other Mozilla libraries. Primarily, you should also review the project page for Mozilla Core, which includes several million lines of code and was built by hundreds of developers. This core library forms the bulk of Firefox. A search for mozilla on Ohloh will return all the relevant projects. We've considered merging all of the repositories for Mozilla Core into the Firefox project page, but for now we have decided to keep them distinct. We're open to discussion about this. Robin [Less]

Feedback Forum : Submit line numbers only

Hi Genopro, Thanks for the interest, but at this time Ohloh is only available for open source projects. It sounds like your project isn't open source. Unfortunately we don't have any remote adapters ... [More] to analyze the code privately. We'll consider adding this functionality if there's sufficient demand. -jay [Less]

General Discussion : SourceForge seems to be having trouble

We're having some trouble downloading the source control history for this project. I did some investigating, and it looks as though the SourceForge server is having some problems right now -- ... [More] Subversion operations aren't working consistently. I'll keep and eye on this project, and hopefully the server will come back and we can get the report done soon. Robin [Less]

Feedback Forum : Nice Service

We make a little money from advertising and we don't plan to improve our ad revenues by bombarding our users with ads in the midst of our content. We intend for this information and metrics service to ... [More] always be free. In the coming weeks and months we will roll out some cool new services some of which will be free, others that will be fee based. As our planning gets a little more solid we'll let you know in more detail what our future plans are. [Less]

Ohloh General Discussion : Announcement: You provided feedback. We listened.

Over past several weeks we received a lot of constructive suggestions for our site. The suggestions can be grouped into five areas: UI improvements, project editing, project requests, discussions and ... [More] notifications. Improving the UI: We have removed parts of the site that folks didn't use and have made the current site more readable and navigable. Editing a Project:You can edit a project by logging in and using our wiki to edit items such as the project description, project homepage, and the project source code repository. Adding a Project: You can put projects into the system to be indexed by logging in and supplying a project description, a project homepage and project source code repository information. Discussions: We've added this forum page as well as project forum pages so that users can debate Ohloh's service and a project's metrics. Receiving Notifications: Our users can receive notifications via RSS such as when a project has been indexed, when a project has been updated and when someone has posted to a particular discussion. I'm sure that Jason and Robin will go into more depth about these changes in this forum and on the Ohloh blog. We hope these improvements to our site make Ohloh more fun and useful. Give it a try and please let us know how we can make further improvements to our service. Thanks, --scott [Less]
