Can't sign on as contributor for new projects

Hi folks,

I've just joined Ohloh, but I've searched the FAQ and forums and can't find an answer to this...

I have created several new projects in Ohloh (examples: gopher, pygopherd, configfile, lsdk, OfflineIMAP). I've also entered in my source repositories as enlistments. I can sign up as I use this, but there's no I'm a contributor button anywhere. Any idea why that is?

Hi John,

Wow - you've contributed to lots of open source projects.

I think you figured out the answer to this question, but I'll answer anyway for anyone else who reads this and is wondering the same thing:

Ohloh has to finish downloading and analyzing the source code for a project before it has a list of contributors to claim.

If that wasn't the case, please let us know.

Yes indeed, that does appear to be correct.

In fact, it appears that a person can sign up as a contributor immediately to a project that has no enlistments (such as Debian). Once an enlistment is created, the contributor button disappears until it is processed (an hour or so maybe?)

Thanks again for the answer.

Yes, in fact I had forgotten my contributions to some projects until I searched for my name over here and they all came up. It did jog my memory and it was all correct, but it was somewhat of a surprising thing that Ohloh knew about things I had forgotten.

Glad to have helped you find your work!

It looks like one part of our UI was confusing. You can always create a new position for any project, even if it has an enlistment, but going to your profile page and hitting NEW POSITION.
