Forums : Suggestions for Ohloh 2.0

Dear Open Hub Users,

We’re excited to announce that we will be moving the Open Hub Forum to https://community.synopsys.com/s/black-duck-open-hub. Beginning immediately, users can head over, register, get technical help and discuss issue pertinent to the Open Hub. Registered users can also subscribe to Open Hub announcements here.

On May 1, 2020, we will be freezing https://www.openhub.net/forums and users will not be able to create new discussions. If you have any questions and concerns, please email us at [email protected]

Ohloh should look at the top level of...

Ohloh should look at the top level of a project for files named README*, and should provide a link to such files from project pages. I'd love to have a read the README link from every project page. (It should link directly to README, and provide a list of other files that match README*.)

Similarly, consider linking to files named NEWS (which provides a higher level overview of changes than a full changelog), INSTALL (if and only if it does not match the autotools generic installation instructions :) ), HACKING, FAQ, NOTES, TODO, HOWTO, AUTHORS, MAINTAINERS, CREDITS, THANKS, and COPYING.

Readily available links to some of these files may also help people fill out more structured information for a project in Ohloh.

Agreed; there's probably a lot of interesting, simple things we could do here.

Effectively, this requires us to allow you to browse the source code from our web site. We've wanted to make this happen for a long time, but it's taking us a while to get it engineered.
