I prefer to view my sites using Links, a browser with no Javascript or CSS support. Some parts of the site do not work properly with Links.
It would be nice if Javascript (and CSS) would be optional. Optimizing the site for textmode browsers would make it more usable on mobile devices too.

I've created an enhancement request on our side to track this. We have a lot of other high priority things we need to fix/do but rest assured that we've written down this request so it's not forgotten.
