I can confirm that requesting an invalid account or project now results in an XML error. Thanks for the fix!

Suggestions for Ohloh 2.0 : When creating or editing forum posts,...

When creating or editing forum posts, could Ohloh please show a preview of the post? Ideally, it could show and update the preview live, the way it would look as the next post in the discussion, with ... [More] some style indicating transience. However, a simple preview button which updates the preview will work as well. [Less]

Suggestions for Ohloh 2.0 : Open Source the Ohloh code

Hi schwern, The Ohloh source code parser/line counter has been teased out of the Ohloh main codebase, and we're prepping it for release now. I'm writing some documentation and doing some code ... [More] cleanup, and prepping our web server to serve up the repository and documentation. I'm shooting for the beginning of next week. If all goes well, over time we do plan to open up more of the Ohloh code, which may ultimately lead to just what you describe: an social site about open source, which is itself open source -- directed and implemented by the community. I eagerly await your Perl parser enhancements :-) Robin [Less]

Technical Issue Help : Project ExTeX: SVN analysis fails

Hi Torsten, We have some problems with the Berlios forge -- we are often disconnected by the server, or suffer timeouts. It usually takes several tries for us to complete a download from Berlios. It ... [More] looks like the report is finally ready and up-to-date. Let me know if you have any more problems, Robin [Less]

Feedback Forum : Enlistments failures

Hi Jonan, Let me add some brutal honesty to Andy's answer. Job failures are relatively common, but usually have trivial causes. Well-known failures of these types are automatically rescheduled ... [More] , usually within 24 hours. The note on the enlistment page is to primarily there to prevent lots of email about these types of temporary problems. However, if your failure is of the more interesting and permanent variety, it might take a long time before someone manually inspects your project to determine the problem. If we are very busy or if our servers are very backed up with other downloads, it might take several weeks before the problem is investigated. In this case, a simple post in the forums is enough to get our attention, and we can usually sort it out very quickly. I'd say that if 48 hours goes by without any change, let us know. Perhaps the notice needs revising. Ohloh has grown a lot, our volume is much higher, and our procedures have changed somewhat over the last year. [Less]

Technical Issue Help : Absurd Data in Summary

Hi mrasnika, I've done some investigating, and I've confirmed what others here are saying. Because of the doc directory, this project is mostly Javascript, and there are very few Javascript comments. ... [More] If you exclude the doc directory, it's purely PHP. Here's what we're showing: Language Files Code Comment Comment % Blank Total -------------- ----- --------- --------- --------- --------- --------- html 80 16550 370 2.2% 2091 19011 javascript 52 3848 492 11.3% 394 4734 php 33 2641 3150 54.4% 1084 6875 css 2 161 11 6.4% 41 213 -------------- ----- --------- --------- --------- --------- --------- Total 116 23200 4023 14.8% 3610 30833 Our system ignores HTML and XML when it comes to determining the main language, which is why we don't call it an HTML project, even though the project source is mostly HTML. Let me know if you have more questions, Robin [Less]

Suggestions for Ohloh 2.0 : Ohloh should look at the top level of...

Agreed; there's probably a lot of interesting, simple things we could do here. Effectively, this requires us to allow you to browse the source code from our web site. We've wanted to make this happen ... [More] for a long time, but it's taking us a while to get it engineered. [Less]
